Dave moved from Buffalo, NY in 2001 to attend Florida State University and pursue a career in elementary education. Missing that taste of home, he began baking pies out of his house. At first it was just for family and friends but soon it grew into much more.
Friends were telling friends about “the BEST pizza they ever tasted” that Dave was making out of his house. Jumping on the opportunity to make his young family a few extra bucks, Dave set up an e-mail address and ordering system where people could order 24 hours in advance and Dave would personally deliver the pizza to their door for dinner the next day. After about 9 months of running pizzas all over Tallahassee, Dave’s wife said, “Go BIG or go home.” In other words, “I’m sick of doing all these dishes, open up a restaurant and do this for real!”
With her urging and support, that’s what Dave did. In April 2013, Dave’s Pizza Garage started serving up “Pizza and wings for those who want THE BEST and KNOW the difference.” in midtown Tallahassee—right on North Monroe. In that modest location, the restaurant and team built many relationships with the community and met some really awesome people.
In 2018, Dave’s Pizza Garage moved to the heart of Killearn in NE Tallahassee and continues to pursue that mission of serving the community an excellent pizza and a place where families and friends can call “My Pizza Garage!”
I was visiting a friend a couple of weeks ago and we wanted pizza outside of the big chains. I had a calzone that was amazing, and my 4 year old enjoyed her pizza as well. Nice fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection. Delivery was prompt and friendly. Would definitely recommend and will be back next time I’m in the area.
I go there every week with a large group of friends since May. Dave’s has the the best pizza that I have ever tasted.. They have unique specialty pizzas and calzones are basically the size of babies. The crust tastes amazing. They also have an amazing caprese salad, cinnamon nubbies (bites), amazingly seasoned subs, and great poutine. The waitresses are also very kind. No complaints here!
Dave’s was a wonderful surprise. Looking for a pizza place and decided to try here. The pizza was fresh and delicious. Thick dough that was so tasty.
The pizza here is amazing. The dough is made fresh everyday and tastes amazing. They don’t skimp on the toppings either. Great family atmosphere. They even have small pizza sets and train tracks for the kids to play with.
What a great experience! Had a pepperoni pizza and meat calzone. Cooked with fresh ingredients, it was the best we’ve ever had! Greeted at the table by the owner during dinner was pleasant. We’ve been on a quest for the best pizza in town… Well, the quest ends here! We’ll be back with the whole family soon! This is a family-friendly restaurant and it is very clean and comfortable. GREAT JOB!
We love Dave’s Pizza garage. We first heard about Dave’s through a friend and have been going ever since. You can dine in or order pickup. We have tried most of their specialty pizzas, and they are all delicious. We especially love the barbecue chicken pizza. These pizzas are so much better than what you can get at a chain. There are lots of good pizza restaurants in Tallahassee, but Dave’s is the best!
Excellent pizza, friendly from order to delivery. They also delivered within 15 minutes, even during the hurricane aftermath. They are my new pizza place!
We ate here about a year ago and thought we would try it again. Very quaint place that really caters to the families with kids. Activities for the little ones to do while waiting on your food. We ordered pizza and it was just as good as I remember. Very generous helpings and made just right. Would again recommend this place to anyone with kids or not. Excellent staff and very attentive.
As a self proclaimed pizza junkie, I can truthfully say there’s no other pizza in town like Dave’s. It’s unique but in the best way. That quality carries over into his service, as well. The New York style in the pizza is coupled with the best of southern hospitality. It’s a family friendly restaurant with family atmosphere and family is how you’re treated as a customer. Each customer is made to feel appreciated and the success of Dave’s is no question.
Some of the best wings in town! Calzones are exceptional also. I love that they have a great bar and a staff who cares. Dave and his team know how to do things right. They have done amazing things with the location and it is a great spot now. I highly recommend eating the way through the menu and bringing friends! It’s a wonderful addition to NE Tallahassee.
